ὁμό-φυ_λος , ον,
A.of the same race or stock, akin (wider in sense than ὁμοεθνής, q.v.), Hp.Aër.12, Th.1.141, etc.; opp. ἀλλόφυλος, Epicur.Sent.39 ; “οἱ ὁ.” those of the same race, X.Cyr.5.4.27 ; φιλία ὁ. friendship based on kinship, E.HF 1200 (lyr.), Pl.Mx.244a ; “ὁ. Ζεύς” Id.Lg.843a; θοὑμόφυλον, = ὁμοφυλία, E.IT346, Decr. ap. D.18.186 ; τὸ μὴ ὁ. a city peopled by different races, Arist.Pol.1303a25.
2. generally, of the same breed or kind, “ἀρχαὶ οὐχ ὁ.” Philol.6 ; “ὄρνιθες” X.Cyr.1.6.39 ; ἀπιέναι πρὸς τὸ ὁ. ib.8.7.20, cf. Arist.Mu.396b10 ; “[τὸ πῦρ] συγκρίνει τὰ ὁ.” homogeneous matter, Id.Cael.307b1, cf. GC329b28.
