A.ὠρόθυναLyc.693 ; imper. “ὀρόθυνονIl.21.312 :—stir up, rouse, urge on, mostly of persons, Il.13.351, etc.; also of things, “πάντας δ᾽ ὀρόθυνον ἐναύλους21.312 ; “πάσας δ᾽ ὀρόθυνεν ἀέλλαςOd.5.292 : c. inf., urge one to do, A.R.1.522, 1275.— Ep. word, used in Pass. by A., “στάσις τ᾽ ἐν ἀλλήλοισιν ὠροθύνετοPr. 202 ; and Herm. restores ὀροθύνεις (for ὀρθεῖς or ὀρθοῖς) in E.Ba. 1168 (lyr.).
