οἰκό-σι_τος , ον,
A.taking one's meals at home, “οἰ. υἱός” Anaxandr.24, cf. Luc.Somn. 1 ; οἰ. τοὺς γάμους πεποιηκέναι, i.e. without inviting guests outside the family, Men.450 ; living at one's own expense, unpaid, “οἰ. ἐκκλησιαστής” Antiph.200 ; “οὐκ οἰ. τοὺς ἀκροατὰς λαμβάνεις” Men.Kith.Fr. 6 ; οἰ. νυμφίος a bridegroom who takes his bride without (or not on account of) a portion, Id.103, cf. Ath.6.247e ; “τοὺς διακονοῦντας ἐν τοῖς γάμοις οἰκοσίτους μισθώσασθαι” paying for their food out of their wages, Thphr.Char.22.4, cf. IG22.1672.62 ; πεζοὶ οἰ., of militiamen, Plu.Crass.19.
