οἰκοδομ-έω , fut. -ήσω : aor. ᾠκοδόμησα (not οἰκ- in Att.) : pf.
A.“ᾠκοδόμηκα” Pl.Grg.514b : but later Att. pf. Pass. “οἰκοδομημένοι” IG22.1627.398 :—build a house : generally, build, νεὼν καὶ βωμόν ib.12.24.13 ; “νηόν” Hdt.1.21 ; οἰκίας ib.114 ; γέφυραν ib.186 ; “πυραμίδας” Id.2.101, cf. Telecl.42 ; “[αἱ μέλιτται] οἰ. τὰ κηρία” Arist.HA623b27 : abs., Pl.Chrm.161e, 165d :—also in Med., οἰκοδομέεσθαι οἴκημα build oneself a house, have it built, Hdt.2.121.α᾽, cf. 148 ; “νεωσοίκους” And.3.7 ; “τείχη” Th.7.11 ; “οἰκίας” Pl.R.372a, etc. : —Pass., to be built, Hdt.2.126, 127 ; τὰ “-ούμενα” Arist.GA730b8.
b. generally, fashion, “καταπέτασμα” LXX 3 Ki.6.36.
2. metaph., build or found upon, “ἔργα ἐπί τι” X.Cyr.8.7.15 ; “οἰ. τέχνην ἔπεσιν” Ar.Pax 749.
3. metaph., build up, edify, IEp.Cor.8.1, 10.23, etc. ; οἰ. εἰς τὸν ἕνα IEp.Thess.5.11 : but also in bad sense, οἰκοδομηθήσεται εἰς τὸ ἐσθίειν will be emboldened, IEp.Cor.8.10 ; cf. ἀνοικοδομέω.
