2. of persons, hostile, malignant, τινι Ar.Pax390, Euph.51.12, etc.; “πρὸς πάντα π.Theoc.22.58; οἱ παλίγκοτοι adversaries, Pi.N. 4.96, A.Supp.376. Adv., αὐτῷ . . -τως συνεφέρετο it fared ill with him, Hdt.4.156; φέρειν τὰ συμπίπτοντα μὴ π. to bear accidents not resentfully, E.Fr.572.2.
II. metaph., of wounds or injuries, growing malignant, festering, Hp.Art.27 (Sup.).
