2. παραιτησάμενος βασιλέα having obtained the king's leave, Hdt.6.24: generally, intercede with, appeal to a person, Id.3.132, 5.33; “κτεῖν᾽, οὐ παραιτοῦμαί σεE.Heracl.1026, cf.
