παρατυγχάνω , pf. -τέτευχα and -τετύχηκα (v. infr.) : aor. παρέτυ^χον: —
3. freq. in part. παρατυχών, whoever chanced to be by, i. e. the first comer, any chance person, “οὐκ ἐκ τοῦ παρατυχόντος πυνθανόμενοςTh.1.22 ; “σὺν τοῖς π. ἱππόταιςX. Cyr.1.4.18 ; also τὸ παρατυγχάνον or παρατυχόν whatever turns up or chances, ποιεῖν τὸ παρατυγχάνον αὐτῷ to do whatever circumstances required, Id.Eq.Mag.9.1 ; πρὸς τὸ παρατυγχάνον as circumstances required, Th.1.122; “ἐν τῷ παρατυχόντιId.5.38 ; ἀποκρίνασθαι ἐκ τοῦ παρατυχόντος answer offhand, Plu.2.154a : παρατυχόν, abs., it being in one's power, since it was in one's power to do, c. inf., Th.1.76; “ἐν καλῷ π. σφίσι ξυμβαλεῖνId.5.60.
