2. mostly of Number, few, poet. for ὀλίγος (q.v.) in this sense, Ep., Lyr., and Trag., “π. ἄνδρεςThgn.79 ; “π. τινέςPi.O.10(11).22 ; “π. ἀνδρῶνA.Ag.832 : rare in Prose, as Thphr.HP8.7.4 ; παῦρα, opp. πολλά, Il.9.333, cf. Od. 2.241 : with a collect. Subst., π. λαός small in number, Il.2.675 : Comp. “παυρότερος4.407, 8.56, al., Thgn. 644 : neut. pl. παῦρα as Adv., seldom, Hes. Th.780, Ar.Pax 764. (Cf.
