A.cause to remain over and above, keep safe, preserve, Hdt. 3.36, al., Th.2.25, al., Lys.13.63, etc.; ἐκ κακῶν καὶ πολέμου ὑμᾶς αὐτοὺς π. Id.6.47.
2. of money, food, etc., save up, lay by, X.Oec.11.10 ; ἀπ᾽ ὀλίγων ib.2.10 ; τῶν προσόδων part of the revenues, Is.6.38, cf. POxy.2148.17 (i A. D.).
3. obtain a net product or residue, Thphr.Lap.58.
