A.fixing, putting together, esp. of woodwork, “θυρωμάτων” Pl.Plt.280d (pl.).
2. Astrol., fixing, “τοῦ ἀναφορικοῦ” Vett.Val.24.18, cf. Cat.Cod.Astr.2.196.
II. solidity, “πῆξιν λαβεῖν” D.S.1.7 (but metaph., acquire fixity, Chrysipp.Stoic.3.138, cf. Dam.Pr.56).
2. coagulation, Pl.Phlb.32a; freezing, Hp. Aër.8; [ὕδατος] π. Epicur.Ep.2p.49U., cf. p.45 U.; caused by cold, as τῆξις, διάχυσις, ζέσις by heat, Arist.Mete.382b31, GC330b27 (but also “π. θερμότητος” Ocell.2.9); formation of gum in plants, Thphr.HP 9.1.5; curdling, “γάλακτος” D.S.4.81.
