II. Pass., to be made trustworthy, give a pledge or warrant, “πιστωθείςh.Merc.536 ; “ἐπεὶ δ᾽ ἐπιστώθησανE.IA66; μοι . . ὅρκῳ πιστωθῆναι ἀπήμονά μ᾽ οἴκαδ᾽ ἀπάξειν bind yourselves to me by oath . . , Od.15.436.
2. feel trust or confidence, to be persuaded, “ὄφρα . . πιστωθῆτον ἐνὶ θυμῷ21.218; πιστωθεὶς ὅτι . . feeling confidence that . . , S.OC1039.
2. πιστοῦσθαί τινα ὑφ᾽ ὅρκου secure his good faith by oaths, S.OC650, cf. Plb.8.15.2.
