2. of ships, make the charge (ἐμβολή) first, Th. 4.25: with acc. expressed, “π. [τῇ νηΐ] πληγήν” Plb.16.3.2: hence, generally, attack before, τινι D.S.15.81.
3. make an inroad before, εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν, ἐς τὴν Ἀρμενίαν, J.BJ2.20.6, D.C.36.45, cf. 37.1.
