D.L.7.7, Ev.Matt.11.16, Act.Ap.22.2: c. dupl. acc., address words to a person, “οὐδέ τί μιν προσεφώνεον” Il.1.332, cf. A.Fr. 159, E.Med.664.
2. call by name, ποδαπὸν ὅμιλον τόνδε . . προσφωνοῦμεν; A.Supp.l.c.; “ὀνόματι π. τινά” E.Tr.942; π. τινὰ βασιλέα salute him king, Plb.10.38.3, etc.
3. issue directions or orders, τινι PTeb.27.109 (ii B.C.): abs., folld. by ὅπως, ib.124.21 (ii B.C.):—Pass., UPZ106.20 (ii B.C.).
