προσήγορ-ος , Dor. ποτάγορος , ον, (ἀγορεύω)
A.addressing, accosting, αἱ π. δρύες the speaking oaks, A.Pr.832; τί δῆτ᾽ ἐμοὶ . . προσήγορον ἔτ᾽ ἔστ᾽ ἀκούειν; what word addressing me, i.e. addressed to me . .? S.OT1338 (lyr.); “π. φάτιν ὤρεξεMoschio Trag.9.8: c. gen., Παλλάδος εὐγμάτων προσήγορος addressing prayers to her, addressing her, S.Ant.1185: in late Prose, conversing, γνώριμοί τε καὶ π. Iamb.VP33.237.
2. generally, conversable, mutually agreeable, “φίλοι τι καὶ π. ἀλλήλοιςPl.Tht.146a; θεοῖς π. Max.Tyr.11.8; γενόμενος ἐν τοῖς μάλιστα π. his chief friend, D.H. 1.70; συμπόσιον μηκέτι π. ἑαυτῷ, i.e. too large for general conversation, Plu.2.678d; γνώριμα καὶ π. familiar, of ideas, Id.Cic.40.
3. of things, agreeing, “πάντα π. καὶ ῥητὰ πρὸς ἄλληλαPl.R.546b, cf. Philol.11; “ὁμόφρονα καὶ ποτάγορα ἀλλάλοιςPolus ap. Stob.3.9.51.
