προτάσσω , Att. προτα?́ν-ττω , 2 aor. Pass. προετάγην [α^] A.D.Synt.306.16:—
A.place or post in front, σφᾶς αὐτοὺς π. πρὸ τῶν Ἑλλήνων put themselves in front of them, so as to defend them, And.1.107; π. σφῶν αὐτῶν Ἀστύμαχον put him at their head, as speaker, Th.3.52:—Med., προετάξαντο τῆς φάλαγγος τοὺς ἱππέας posted the horse in front of it, X.HG6.4.10:—Pass., stand before one, so as to protect, <*>αξ, προτάσσου A.Supp.835 (lyr.); τὸ προταχθέν the front rank, van, X.Cyr. 5.3.37; “οἱ προτεταγμένοιId.HG2.4.15, Ar.Pax1340; “προταχθέντες ὑπὲρ ἁπάντωνIsoc.4.99; also in documents, -τεταγμένος the aforesaid, POxy.1112.18 (ii A.D.), etc.
