A.to be a ῥαβδοῦχος, carry a rod or wand, esp. as a badge of office, Hippias Erythr. ap. Ath.6.259d; of the Roman lictors, bear the fasces, D.C.48.43:—Pass., have the fasces borne before one, Plu. Num.10.
