A.rushing, roaring, dashing, esp. of waves, “ἀμφὶ δὲ κῦμα βέβρυχεν ῥόθιον” Od.5.412; of oars, “ῥ. πλάται” E.IT1133 (lyr.); of a ship dashing through the waves, AP10.2 (Antip. Sid.); “μετὰ ῥοθίου βίας” Arist.Mu.396a14: metaph. of an orator, Poll.6.147; of a horse, J.BJ6.2.8. Adv. “-ίως” Poll.4.24 codd., Vett.Val.345.33.
