σκι^άδειον [α^], τό, σκιά)
A.sunshade, parasol, “ἐξεπετάννυτο ὥσπερ ς. καὶ πάλιν ξυνήγετοAr.Eq.1348, cf. Av.1508,1550, Thphr.HP9.12.2; as a sign of effeminacy, “καθήμενον ὑψηλῶς ὑπὸ σκιαδείῳPherecr.64, cf. Eup.445, Stratt.56.
2. a sort of broad-brimmed hat, like θολία, Sch.Theoc.15.38, Hsch.s.v. θολία.
3. carriage with a tilt or hood, Phot., Eust.613.43; the tilt itself, LXXIs.66.20.
4. umbel of umbelliferous plants, Dsc.2.139; also, flower-head or similar part of other plants, Id.3.27,49, 4.36,173.
5. perh. arbour, Str.15.1.21.
6. perh. Dim. of σκιά, shade, Id.3.4.17.—The Mss. wrongly give σκιάδιον in Pherecr., Thphr., Dsc. Il. cc., Dem.Phal.Fr.5 J., etc.
