A.spring, leap, bound, of young horses, “αἱ δ᾽ ὅτε μὲν σκιρτῷεν ἐπὶ ζείδωρον ἄρουραν . ., ἀλλ᾽ ὅτε δὴ ς. ἐπ᾽ εὐρέα νῶτα θαλάσσης” Il.20.226,228; “πῶλοι ἐσκίρτων φόβῳ” E.Ph.1125; of goats, Theoc.1.152; of the Bacchae, E.Ba. 446; “ὀρχεῖσθε καὶ ς. καὶ χορεύετε” Ar.Pl.761, cf.V.1305; ἅλλεσθαι καὶ ς. Pl.Lg.653e: also of wind, “σκιρτᾷ δ᾽ ἀνέμων πνεύματα πάντων” A.Pr. 1085 (anap.).
