A.of the general, “σκηνήPaus.4.19.1; πύλαι the door or entrance of the general's tent, S.Aj.49; ναῦς ς. flag-ship, Th.2.84 (pl.), cf. And.1.11; so ς. alone, Hdt.8.92; at Rome, ς. σπεῖραι cohortes praetoriae, Plu.Ant.39, cf. App.BC3.45; τάξεις ib.5.3.
II. as Subst., fem. of στρατηγός, female commander, Ar.Ec.835,870, Pherecr.235.
