σύγ-κλεισις , old Att. ξύγκλῃσις , εως, : (συγκλείω):—
A.shutting up, closing up (of a line of battle), Th.5.71; τῆς φάλαγγος ς. Arr.An.1.4.3; “συγκλείσει κωλύειν τὴν δίοδονThphr.Od.36.
2. locking up, safe storage, “σίτουPLond.2.237.21 (iv A.D.).
II. a being closed, ἰσχυρὰν . . τὴν ς. αὐτῶν πρὸς ἄλληλα κέκτηται has them closely locked together, Pl.Ti.81b, cf. Hp.Loc.Hom.6; “ἐπὶ συναφῆς καὶ συγκλείσεως χάρινArist.Spir.484b22; locking of shields in χελώνη, Arr.Tact.11.6.
2. συγκλείσεις narrow passes, defiles, Plb.5.44.7, v.l. for συγκλίσεις in Plu.Cam.41.
