A.commingling, commixture, “πάντων χρημάτων” Anaxag.4; “τινῶν πρὸς ἄλληλα” Pl.Phlb.23d, cf. Plt.309b; “αἰσθήσεως καὶ δόξης” Id.Sph.264b; “ἡ τῶν γάμων ς. καὶ κοινωνία” Id.Lg.721a; ἐκ συμμίξεως by commixture, Arist.GA785b5, cf. Pl.Ti. 60d.
II. sexual intercourse, Id.Lg.839a, Plu.Num.4.
III. οἱ υἱοὶ τῶν ς. mistranslation of Hebr. benē hatta` ărūbóth 'sons of pledges', i.e. 'hostages', through confusion of root with `ēreb 'mixed horde', LXX 4 Ki.14.14.
