συγκαθ-ίημι , fut.
A.“-καθήσω” E.Hel.1068:—let down with or together, deposit together, κόσμον l.c.; αὑτὴν ς. let oneself down, lower oneself, “εἴς τι” Pl.Tht.174a; ὁμοῦ ς. ἑαυτὸν εἰς τὴν θάλατταν threw himself into it along with her, Plu.2.163c; insert together with, “ἄγκιστρον τῷ δακτύλῳ” Heliod. ap. Orib.44.14.3. cf. Dsc.2.76, 5.40; ς. Μούσας τοῖς Βατράχοις bring them upon the stage at the same time with . . , Arg.2 S.OC:—Pass., stoop down and enter, εἰς τόπον, of an ambush, Plb.8.24.4.
II. (sc. ἑαυτόν) settle down, crouch, squat, Arist.Pr.869b11, D.S.20.51; “συγκαθείσης τῆς θηλείας ἐπιβαίνει τὸ ἄρρεν” Arist.HA539b29.
2. stoop, condescend, accommodate oneself, “οἱ . . γέροντες συγκαθιέντες τοῖς νέοις” Pl.R.563a; “εἰς . . ” D.H.6.56, etc.: abs., Pl.Prt.336a, Tht.168b; εἰς τὰ ἀναγκαῖα cj. in Epicur.Sent.Vat.44.
3. of a seller, ς. τῇ τιμῇ come down in price, Lync. ap. Ath.7.313f.
