συνέλκω , aor. -είλκυ^σα,
A.draw together, “ς. πανταχόθεν τὸ δέρμα ἐπὶ τὴν γαστέρα νῦν καλουμένην” Pl.Smp.190e; ς. τὰς ὀφρῦς, of frowning, Antiph.307; draw in, retract, “τὴν θρυαλλίδ᾽ εἰς ἑαυτὸν ξυνελκύσας” Ar.Nu.585 (troch.); “τὸν αὐχένα” J.BJ6.1.8:—Pass., [“τὰ ὕδατα] ς. πρὸς τὸ βάθος” Str.3.5.7; of cramp, Sor.2.28, Antyll. ap. Orib.8.6.32; “ὅτε εἰς αὑτὴν ἡ μήτρα συνέλκεται” Sor.1.70b.
b. metaph., συνειλκυσμένος ὑπὸ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου <τῇ> πρὸς σὲ . . αἱρέσει drawn into association with the man by his friendship with you, UPZ146.4, cf. 31 (ii B.C.); dub. sens. in POxy.1188.9 (i A.D.).
II. pull along with, help to pull, Ar.Pax 417; ς. μετ᾽ αὐτῶν ἡμᾶς αὐτούς help them in dragging us over (in the game διελκυστίνδα), Pl.Tht.181a; “τοὺς νεκροὺς εἴσω φάλαγγος” X.Ages.2.15.
