A.reward for saving one's life, thank-offering for deliverance from a danger, σῶστρα τοῦ παιδὸς θύειν [θεοῖς] Hdt.1.118, cf. AP9.378.7 (Pall.); “ς. ὀφείλειν τισίLuc.Salt.8; “ἐκτίνειν τισίId.DMar.14.1.
2. reward for bringing back lost cattle or runaway slaves, “ς. παρέχεινHdt.4.9; “σῶστρα τούτου ἀνακηρύσσεινX.Mem.2.10.2; σῶστρα δὲ μὴ ἐξεῖμ[εν ἐσπρᾶξαι] Foed.Delph. Pell.2 A 25.
