ὑφαρπ-άζω , Ion. ὑπαρπάζω Hdt. (v. infr.):—
A.snatch away from under,τὴν ἕδραν τινόςX.Cyr.8.4.16.
2. take away underhand, filch,μᾶζανAr.Eq.56; “ΚύπρινId.Th.205, Ec.722:—Med., οὐκ ἂν ὑφαρπάσαιο τἀμὰ παίγνια ib.921 (lyr.); snap up the meaning of a sentence, Id.Nu.490.
3. . τὸν ἐπίλοιπον λόγον snatch away the rest of what one is going to say, cut it short, Hdt.5.50, 9.91: abs., ἔφη ὑφαρπάσας, interposing hastily, Pl.Euthd.300d.
