2. write memoirs or annals, Plb.5.33.5; “ὑ. τὰς Ἀλεξάνδρου πράξεις” Str.2.1.9:—Pass., to be recorded, “ἐν ᾧ ὑπεμνημάτιστο τάδε” LXX 1 Es.6.22(23); so freq. in Pap., “ἀξιοῦσιν -ισθῆναι τὴν ἔντευξιν αὐτῶν” PHamb.29.15 (i A. D.), cf. PRyl. 77.46 (ii A. D.), etc.
b. write a treatise, “ὑ. τι περὶ ὕψους” Longin.1.2; treat of a subject, Demetr.Lac.Herc.1055.23.
3. explain, interpret, “οἱ ὑπομνηματισάμενοι” commentators, A.D.Synt.156.12, Sch.S. OC390: so in Act., ὁ τὴν Ὀδύσσειαν -ίζων, ὁ Ὅμηρον -ίσας, St.Byz. s. vv. Δωδώνη, Ἐρυθραί, cf. Syrian. in Hermog.1.1 R.
