A.“χάλεψα” Dosiad.Ara13:—Med. and Pass., v. infr. 11:—causal of “χαλεπαίνω” 1.2, oppress, crush, “εἴρεσθαι δὲ θεῶν ὅστις σε χαλέπτει” Od.4.423; “ῥέα δὲ βριάοντα χαλέπτει” Hes.Op.5; “πιέζειν καὶ χ.” Plu.2.487b.

II. provoke, enrage, “Κύπριδα” AP5.262 (Agath.):—Med., to be angry, “χαλεψαμένης Ἀφροδίτης” D.P.484, cf. A.R.1.1341; τισι Nic.Th.309; χαλέπτεσθαί τινί τινος with one for a thing, App.BC3.43; χαλεψάμενός τινί τινος ib.3.7; τινι alone, 2.29, al.; χαλέπτεο πένθεϊ θυμόν QS.3.780:—Pass., χαλεφθείς τινι enraged at one, v.l. in Thgn.155; “μὴ χαλεφθῇς ἐμοί” S.Ichn.328 (lyr.); “σύγγνωθί μοι καὶ μὴ χαλεφθῇς” Com.Adesp.281.
III. intr. in Act., to be angry, vexed, τινι at a person or thing, Bion Fr.11.2.:—Poet. and late Prose.
