R.396b, Phdr.254d, Jul.Mis.366a: metaph. of lewd men, “χ. ἐπὶ γυναῖκαLXX Je.5.8.—In Hes.Sc.348 we have a shorter form of 3pl. aor. 1, χρέμισαν, asif from χρεμίζω. (Cf. χρόμη, χρόμαδος, OE.gremettan, grymettan 'to roar', OSlav. v[ucaron]z-gr[icaron]měti 'to thunder'.)
