2.(sub. νίκη), a victory at Olympia, Hdt. Olympiad, i. e. the space of four years between the celebrations of the Olympic games; used as an historical date from about 300 B. C. The 1st Olympiad began 776 B. C.; the 293rd and last in 393 A. D.
