I.fine wool, flock, οἰὸς ἄωτον, or without οἰός, the sheep's finest wool, Hom.; λίνοιο λεπτὸν ἄωτον the delicate flock of flax, i. e. the finest linen, Il.
II.metaph. the finest, best of its kind, the flower of a thing, ἄωτος ζωᾶς the flower of life, Pind.; Χαρίτων ἄωτος their choisest gift, id=Pind.
