ἀναίνομαι α privat. , αἶνος

1.Dep. c. acc. to reject with contempt, turn one's back on, spurn, Hom.: also simply to refuse, decline, Od., Xen.
2.to renounce, disown, Aesch., Eur.
II.c. inf. to refuse, decline to do, Il.; and with pleon. negat., ἀναίνετο μηδὲν ἑλέσθαι he said no, he had received nothing, id=Il.
III.absol. to refuse, deny, Hom.
