ἀντεῖπον aor2 with no pres, ἀνταγορεύω being used instead, cf. ἀντερῶ

1.to speak against or in answer, gainsay, c. dat., οὐδὲν ἀντ. τινι Aesch., etc.:—absol. to speak in answer, Thuc., etc.; ἀντ. ἔπος to utter a word of contradiction, Eur.
2.ἀντ. τινί τι to set one thing against another, Plat.
3.κακῶς ἀντ. τινά to speak ill of him in turn, Soph.
