ἀποτίνω

I.to pay back, repay, return, τί τινι Il.
2.to pay for a thing, τι Hom., Aesch., etc.: absol. to make atonement, Il.
3.to pay in full, Hdt., attic
II.Mid. ἀποτίνομαι and ἀποτίνυμαι: fut. -τίσομαι:— to get paid one, to exact or require a penalty from a man, ποινήν Il.; δίκην Eur.
2.c. acc. pers., ἀποτίσασθαί τινα to avenge oneself on another, punish him, Od., Xen.
3.c. acc. rei, to take vengeance for a thing, punish it, Od.; so, c. gen. rei, Hdt.:—absol. to take vengeance, Theogn.
