ἑσπέρα

Lat. vespera, properly fem. of ἕσπερος:
I.(sub. ὥρα), evening, eventide, eve, Hdt.; ἑσπέρας at eve, Plat., etc.; ἀπὸ ἑσπέρας εὐθύς just at nightfall, Thuc.; πρὸς ἑσπέρᾳ Ar.; ἐπεὶ πρὸς ἑσπέραν ἦν Xen.; ἑσπέρας γιγνομένης Plat.
II.(sub. χώρα), the west, Lat. occidens, Eur.; πρὸς ἑσπέρην χώρη the country to the west, Hdt.; τὸ πρὸς ἑσπέρης id=Hdt.; τὰ πρὸς ἑσπέραν Thuc.
