I.the ἔται were clansmen, i. e. the kinsmen of a great house, cousins, παῖδές τε κασίγνητοί τε ἔται τε Hom.; ἔται καὶ ἀνεψιοί Il.
II.later, = δημότης, a townsman, neighbour, Thuc.:—in sg. a private citizen, Aesch.
