ἐφίζω 1

I.Causal, in epic aor1, to set upon, ἐφέσσαι to set me ashore, Od.:—Mid., γούνασιν οἷσιν ἐφεσσάμενος having set [me] on his knees, id=Od.; imperat., ἔφεσσαί με νηός set me on board the ship, id=Od.
II.intr. in pres. and imperf. ἐφῖζον, ionic ἐφίζεσκον, to sit at or by, id=Od., Pind., etc.
