I.to pass over from one place to another, μετὰ δ᾽ ἄστρα βεβήκει ( for μετεβεβήκει) the stars had passed over the meridian, Od.; μ. ἐς τὴν Ἀσίην Hdt.: to go over to the other side, Aesch.
2.to pass from one point to another, μετάβηθι change thy theme, Od.; μεταβάντες changing their course, turning round, Hdt.; μ. ἐκ μείζονος εἰς ἔλαττον Plat.
3.c. acc., μεταβὰς βίοτον having passed to another life, Eur.
II.Causal in aor1 μεταβῆσαι, to carry over, to change, id=Eur.
