μίμνω formed by redupl. from μένω ( i. e. μι-μένω, cf. γί-γνομαι, πί-πτω), and used for μένω when the first syll.was to be long; μιμνόντεσσι, Ep. dat. pl. part. for μίμνουσι.

I.to stay, stand fast, in battle Il.
2.to stay, tarry, id=Il.
3.of things, to remain, Od.: also to be left for one, Aesch.
II.c. acc. to await, wait for, Il., etc.:—impers., μίμνει παθεῖν τὸν ἔρξαντα it awaits the doer to suffer, Aesch.
