πρᾶος 1 the declension varies between the two forms πρᾶος and πρα_ύς—the attic sg. is from πρᾶος, except that the fem. is πραεῖα: poet. sg. from πραΰς

I.Mild, soft, gentle, meek, Hhymn., Pind., Plat.:—of a horse, gentle, Xen.; of other animals, tame, id=Xen.
2.of actions, feelings, mild, Plat.
II.making mild, taming, Pind.
III.adv. πράως, ( from πρᾶος) mildly, gently, Plat.; πράως ἔχειν πρός τι id=Plat.; πράως λέγειν τὸ πάθος to speak lightly of it, Xen.; πράως διακεῖσθαι, opp. to ὀργίζεσθαι, Dem.;—comp., Plat.;—Sup., πραότατα id=Plat.
