προσλαμβάνω 1 2

I.to take or receive besides, get over and above, πρὸς τοῖς παροῦσιν ἄλλα [κακὰ] πρ. Aesch.; πρ. αἰσχύνην Thuc., etc.:—so in Mid., Eur., etc.
2.c. acc. pers. to take to oneself, take as one's helper or partner, Trag., Xen., etc.:—acc., πρ. τινὰ σύμμαχον Xen.:—also in Mid., Polyb., etc.
II.like συλλαμβάνω, to take hold of, τινά Soph.:—Mid. to take hold of, τινος Ar.
2.in Mid., πρ. τινος to take part in a work, be accessory to it, Xen.; προσελάβετο τοῦ πάθεος he was partly the author of the calamity, Hdt.; πρ. τινι to help, assist, Ar.
