I.made of iron or steel, iron, Lat. ferreus, Hom., etc.; χεὶρ σιδηρᾶ a grappling-iron, Thuc.:— σιδήρειος ὀρυμαγδός, i. e. the clang of arms, Il.; σιδήρεος οὐρανός the iron sky, the firmament, which the ancients held to be of metal, Od.
