Inferi, id=Aesch.; and χθόνιοι alone, Pind., Aesch.; χθόνιαι θεαί, i. e. Demeter and Persephone, Hdt.; of the Erinyes, Soph.; χθ. Ἑρμῆς, as conductor of the dead, Aesch., Soph.; χάρις ἡ χθονία grace with the gods below, Soph.
