(sc. milites), soldiers of the second legion (like primani, tertiani, decimani, etc.): “secundani terga hostium caedunt (preceded by secundae legionis principes hastatique),Liv. 34, 15 fin.; 34, 46 fin.; 41, 3; Tac.
