I.a town in the N. W. part of Sicily, near the coast; earlier Egesta, later Segesta, near the modern Alcamo, Verg. A. 5, 718; 9, 218; cf. Serv. ad 1, 550, and Heyne Excurs. I. ad Aen. V.—
