Aethĭŏps (i long, Aethīops, Sid. Carm. 11, 18), ŏpis, m., = Αἰθίοψ [the Gr. geographers derived this word from αἴθω-ὤψ, and applied it to all the
I.sunburnt, dark-complexioned races above Egypt].
