I.a famous gladiator, whose combat with Æserninus, the Samnite, mentioned by Lucilius, became proverbial, Lucil. ap. Non. 393, 30; Cic. Opt. Gen. Or. 6, 17; id. Tusc. 4, 21, 48; id. Q. Fr. 3, 4, 2; Hor. S. 2, 7, 97 (al. Placidianus).
