Phĭlŏmēla , ae, f., = Φιλομήλη.
I. Lit., daughter of Pandion, king of Athens, and sister of Progne; she was violated by her brother-in-law, Tereus, and was changed into a nightingale: “respondeo, Natas ex Philomelā atque ex Progne esse hirundines,Plaut.
