I.a city in Cappadocia, the birthplace of the philosopher Apollonius, now Kiz Hissar, Plin. 6, 3, 3, § 8; Amm. 23, 6, 19.—Hence, Tyă-nēĭus , a, um, adj., of or belonging to Tyana: “incola,Ov. M. 8, 719.—Collat. form Tyănaeus , a, um (late Lat.), Amm. 21, 14, 5.
