I.v. a., to make clear, plain, evident (by disclosing, uncovering), to show, manifest, declare, etc., ἀποφαίνω (class.; most freq. in the trop. sense). For syn. cf.: monstro, demonstro, probo, confirmo, ostendo, ostento, significo, indico, defero; exsisto, appareo, eluceo. —
